Job Title: Content Writer and Editor

Contract: Permanent

**Salary**: £50,000

Reporting to:
Location: London, Docklands. Our permanent hybrid policy sees us all working four days across a fortnight in the office.

Working hours: Full time, 35 hours a week.

The purpose of your role:
At the Financial Ombudsman Service, we set the standard for modern, efficient, accessible alternative dispute resolution.

The content we share, primarily through our digital channels, is a projection of our service to the outside world - and plays a vital role in setting expectations of our service, and our ability to share our insight and prevent unnecessary complaints arising.

As Content Writer and Editor, you will lead on the creation of high-quality content, primarily for digital use but also limited print content.

You will understand that content is more than just words, and will collaborate to bring it to life through design and digital best practice - working as part of our Digital, Content and Brand team, and with key suppliers.

You will work across the Communications department, supporting your colleagues to deliver the team’s objectives, and the Communications Strategy. You will build strong effective relationships across the organisation and you will be someone people turn to for guidance and advice.

You will manage and develop individuals in the Digital, Contentand Brand team - as well as play a role in the coaching and mentoring of the wider department, sharing your knowledge and experience and giving feedback in the moment - encouraging continuous improvement. And you will provide support to our senior leaders, helping us deliver on our organisation’s wider objectives.

About you:
As well as an excellent writer, you will be able to deliver content, from ideas, through creation and sign-off, to publication. You will be able to professionally coordinate and manage multiple content pipelines, delivering to tight timescales, and working with designers and the website team. You will have excellent communication and persuasion skills and be able to, work collaboratively to get the best results.

You’ll have demonstrable experience of:
- designing, creating, and editing a range of content, for use across digital and print - ranging from annual reports, to guidance notes, leaflets, blogs and social posts- Delivering content which showcases organisational tone, while adhering to best practice- Experience of creating content consistent with the Plain Language Commission’s guidance and/or GDS principles, and experience of working to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standard- A good understanding of SEO, content strategy and/or digital campaign management- Experience of working and supporting others in a cross-functional team - challenging and inspiring people to exceed expectations- Influencing and persuading at a senior level - and experience of supplier management- Communicating with a range of stakeholders with varying degrees of technical knowledge - being clear and able to get complex messages across effectively- Planning and prioritising in a busy and changing environment - caring about achieving results as a team while being flexible- Giving feedback, coaching, and developing people and teams to be the best they can
