Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Associate Psychologist to join our team in Adult Acute Inpatient Services. The acute and crisis services are undergoing wide ranging developments in psychological provision to support the development of safe, therapeutic wards and you would play a key role in this exciting process of change.

You will be joining a vibrant and supportive team of well-established Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Associate Psychologists who are able to offer supervision, support, and professional development. The post holder will be based on our male adult acute ward at the Michael Carlisle Centre, with the support and supervision of our ward Clinical Psychologist. Opportunities to work into other ward environments may also be available to support interests and development needs.

The post involves working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a psychological service to our service users, families, carers and staff team. You will be involved in providing psychological assessments, formulation, short term interventions and group work with service users who are presenting with highly complex and/or distressing psychological difficulties, including psychosis and complex trauma. In addition, you will contribute to the provision of a trauma-informed and least restrictive environment through supporting the staff team in their decision making and offering indirect support through team formulation. Psychology roles are highly valued by the ward team and a positive approach to multidisciplinary teamwork is essential.

We are passionate about providing the very best care to the people we support, and we're looking for amazing people who share this passion to join us.

What is it that makes our Trust such a special place to work? Well, it's all about the people. Our staff, service users, carers and families all come from such diverse backgrounds and all have expertise and stories to share.

It’s important that you feel supported in your role, that the people who you work with are as passionate as you are and that your health and wellbeing is taken care of.

If you're interested in developing your career, you'll have access to a range of training and education opportunities, as well as the chance to get involved in research and development.

We are all very proud of the difference we make to people's lives each and every day and if that's something that you'd like to be part of we'd love to have you with us.

To provide a psychological therapy service to service users of Burbage Acute Ward, under the supervision of the qualified Clinical Psychologist. To provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and short-term therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on service users’ psychological care to the ward MDT, wider SHSC colleagues, external agencies and families/carers. In common with the Clinical Psychology profession, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice.

With the support and guidance of the Clinical Psychologist, to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of service users whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.

To be part of a wider, well-established Acute Inpatient team and contribute to meetings, CPD and service development opportunities.
