No8 is an Ofsted Registered Children’s home in Dorchester caring for 2 Young People aged 10 - 17. Working as part of a team you will be required to support these children as a corporate parent to live safely and develop independent skills. We provide full training including a level 3 diploma in residential childcare.

You do NOT need experience of working with vulnerable children, but you do need transferable experiences. If you work in hospitality, customer services, a service industry or a care setting this type of work could be ideal for you. The key skill is the ability to communicate clearly and calmly with others. Successful applicants will get a thorough induction and will only work with experienced staff in the probation period.

No8 are hoping to open a second home so are looking to recruit up to 8 new staff. The starting salary on a full time contract is £23,000+ dependent on experience and we have zero hours contracts available. This is shift work and does include weekend and overnight/sleep in shifts on a rota basis.

**_Job Description_**

1. As a residential childcare worker based at No8 in Dorchester you will support in the effective day to day delivery of a variety of resources and services to children, in accordance with policies and practices of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards. This may include to assist in the management of admissions to the home (in accordance with the homes admissions policy), undertaking risk assessments, report writing, both formal and informal staff.

To plan and participate in the everyday activities, hobbies and holidays / days away with the children / young people and the implementation of new opportunities offered.

2. Taking a role of Guide/ Keyworker to a child or young person, making and accompanying them to health appointments. Maintaining the child young person’s individual file, keeping it up to date. Liaising with families and other outside professionals and agencies.

**1 Professional qualifications**

1. You will hold a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent or be expected to enroll on this qualification within 3 months (3 months covers probation and Induction period) of taking up post and complete this qualification within 2 years.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. To undertake a role in ensuring the Safeguarding, care and welfare of each child in placement

2. To undertake the responsibility of the lead guide for a child within the care of the home, ensuring that the child’s file, care plan, behaviour management plan and risk assessments are completed and up to date.

3. To raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate

**Key Tasks in support of Key Responsibility 1**

1. To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained.

**In support of Key Responsibility 2**

1. To ensure that all staff act in a professional manner in relation to the homes Code of Conduct.

2. To ensure all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments, are always adhered to.

3. To report immediately to your Senior Staff or Registered Manager in any issues regarding Child Protection matters.

4. To ensure that all staff are familiar with Policies and procedures around the care of the child and follow that individual child’s care plan.

5. To ensure that all staff always maintain confidentiality.

**In Support of Key Responsibility 3**

1. To raise any concerns regarding an individual member of staff’s progress or attitude with the Registered Manager (if serious) or at the member of staff’s next supervision.

**In Support of Key Responsibility 4**

1. To attend meetings and training as required.

2. To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.

3. To be flexible in hours of work in order to meet tasks required.

5. To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.

6. To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and be aware of relevant policies and procedures.

7. Adhere to and promote the Company’s Equalities, Inclusion and Diversity Policy.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall objectives of the Children Residential Services.
