Liverpool, United Kingdom Family Psychology Services Ltd Full time

**Assistant Psychologist (Children, Young People and Adults)**

**Family Psychology Services Ltd**

**Liverpool**

**Assistant Psychologist vacancy, Liverpool, full time**

**The role will primarily involve**:

- Supporting psychological assessments (adults and children), including for the family court, which may include summarising extensive written information, administering and scoring psychometric tests, gathering questionnaire data.
- Writing up reports and letters to specified templates and formats from information gathered from papers, observations and/or psychometrics.
- Research activities such as data gathering, data analysis, literature searches, writing up papers for publication. This may also include collecting and collating user feedback from solicitors, social workers and/or clients.
- Supporting training, groups or clinical activities, for example by preparing materials or co-facilitating groups.
- Undertake other such duties as may be appropriate and required in the light of changing circumstances in the evolution of the business and undertake appropriate training/development. For example, other recent areas of work have included consultation to children's home staff which required understanding of the residential care context and advice to the Methodist Church overseas placement panel which required an understanding of faith communities.

There will be ample opportunity for shadowing and case discussion, as well as supervision from a qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist in which you can discuss the formulations of cases and explore other aspects of your CPD plan.

The post will be based in the Liverpool region offices of Family Psychology Services Ltd, but the role will involve travelling throughout the surrounding area. It may involve travel further afield from time to time.

**General Expectations**:
The post holder is expected to work in a complex multi-agency environment with an awareness of relevant legal orders and the roles of different agencies and professionals. The adults or young people we work with may express unmet needs behaviourally or have difficulties relating to others. As a service we may operate in a highly emotive, psychologically and physically demanding environment, which may at times involve hearing about or encountering verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, self-harm and hostility. The post-holder must be able to deal with and communicate highly sensitive information of a disturbing and distressing nature; this may include material of a sexual, violent, traumatic and or abusive content. You will be expected to manage difficult emotional situations with sensitivity, skill and an understanding of the pervasive impact of early abuse and trauma.

We provide supervision according to ACP-UK and BPS recommendations, and plenty of opportunities for personal development. Supervision will be provided by a qualified consultant clinical psychologist. We have a commitment to training and development. This post provides a uniquely diverse experience across the age range, contributing to holistic assessments of families, adults and children (including adults/children with intellectual/developmental difficulties) predominantly in the context of proceedings within the family courts. Given the impact of decisions made following such assessments, a very high standard of integrated clinical psychology assessment and formulation is demanded - and a very high standard of verbal and written communication.
