This is a truly fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced buyer to join our Smiths Interconnect team.

Joining our Dundee based team your aim will be to deliver value to the business by the successful development and execution of world class strategies and sourcing plans. You’ll have an interesting and technically challenging workload from day one, where you will have the opportunity to work in partnership with our established cross-functional teams including Quality, Planning, and Product Design.

Working closely with the Plant Manager, and both our Customers, and suppliers you will be the central point onsite responsible for actively facilitating, planning, and coordinating all aspects of the Connector business within our Dundee facility. You will actively champion/lead supply chain activities ensuring the delivery schedule is kept on time, all product requirements are delivered to our customers exacting expectations and the relationship with all customers remains super positive.

To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, as defined in this advert where you have had full commercial responsibility for a wide range of commodities. This includes sourcing, commercial negotiation and supplier management. You will have a general assertiveness and astute technical confidence that ensures proper balance is maintained across our supply chain operations. You will demonstrate a natural level of comfort working with external suppliers and customers often with a high level of expectation.
- Duties & Responsibilities- Management and facilitating the execution of connector orderbook, product delivery, and revenue forecasts for connector business in Dundee.
- Liaise with local Dundee procurement teams to plan and buy materials.
- Responsible for the execution of high level ‘goods in’ quality co-ordination and extended measures is any issues are found.
- Liaise with Operations/Production to plan the product kit creation.
- Manage/execute any product returns including problem solving and customer liaison requirements as necessary.
- Work with local teams to understand site prioritization.
- Liaise with suppliers to resolve any issues identified at goods in;

- Corrective / Preventative actions
- Identify, prioritise, and drive resolution of issues impacting product delivery with all stakeholders.
- Work with other divisions suppliers on supplier performance, up to and including regular travel to suppliers for audits and/or general goodwill meetings and supplier development/improvement activities.

- The Individual- Results-oriented and metrics-driven leader with expertise in purchasing, supplier collaboration, development and compliance.
- A professional qualification in Purchasing or Supply such as CIPS would be highly advantageous.
- Ideally your work experience will be gained in similar fast-moving engineering or manufacturing environment.
- You should have a good working knowledge of materials MRP/ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, being able to influence and negotiate at all levels both internally and externally.
- Motivated, adaptable and highly resourceful, being comfortable working in often ambiguous situations.
- Strong project management discipline is required, with the ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned objectives.
- Ability to initiate and lead on programs aimed at improved quality, delivery, and/or cost
- Experience of seamlessly balancing multiple priorities between supply chain, customers, and the Smiths Interconnect operational site.
- A solid grounding of managing multiple activities / tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills.
- Good basic technical knowledge (e.g., being able to interpret technical drawings, understanding of manufacturing processes)
