Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity whose purpose, since 1959, is bringing individuals, families, and professionals together to lead the fight against muscle-wasting conditions. Supporting high-quality researchto find effective treatments and cures and ensuring everyone has the specialist NHS care and support they need - the right help at the right time, wherever they live. They are currently looking to recruit a Volunteer Engagement Manager, to help drive MDUK'slocal support services; by establishing new local groups and support networks; reaching more people affected by muscle-wasting conditions as a result. This position is offered as a 9-12month fixed term contract, covering Maternity leave.

As their Volunteer Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for Co-ordinating and managing a network of volunteers and support groups. You will identify new opportunities for volunteer-led support, recruiting and training suitable volunteers to developthese initiatives and support employees in all teams to recruit, train and manage volunteers, and ensure that volunteers receive ongoing training. Working closely with volunteers and employees across the charity you will ensure volunteers are supported, celebratedand rewarded.

To be successful, you will have significant knowledge and experience working with and supporting volunteers, embedding volunteers across a range of services. Possessing knowledge of Data Protection, safeguarding and also relevant aspects of Health & Safetylegislation, and a good understanding of the issues and the needs of people with disabilities. As a natural leader you can set instructions whilst empowering others to accomplish tasks, demonstrating flexibility by adopting a management style to the givensituation. You are able to work effectively with volunteers and supporters to deliver the charity's goals, recognising the value and contribution of volunteers and supporters - empowering others through provision of support, coaching and training.
