As an Barclays Elastic APM Observability Lead within the Chief Technology Office, you will be part of a team focused on Platform Engineering creating the direction for Infrastructure. As the strategic leader for the Elastic Application Performance Monitoring(APM) function, ultimately responsible the design, development and delivery of the APM capability and support operations observe performance of IT services. The APM delivery will align the full stack performance data into a single correlated view.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Being accountable for the successful execution of the APM roadmap, contributing to multi year product strategy ensuring aligns to the wider business strategy
- Acting as an SME to end users through verbose documentation, technical webinars, self-help utilities and ask-me-anything sessions
- Working closely with the Dev, DevOps and Infrastructure teams to continuously gather feedback and implant newer strategies.
- Developing tools and API's using Python or Java, configure and run CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins, source control using git and deployments using Chef/Ansible, in an Agile environment
- Leading the engineering team to successfully deliver product change and program objectives, line management and career growth of direct reports
What we're looking for:

- Established and evidenced leadership credentials; ability to maintain energy and resilience within an organisation throughout a period of significant challenging change
- Complex enterprise organisational infrastructure and architecture environments, technical skills in at least one core language environment e.g., Java,.Net, NodeJS, PHP etc
- Experienced in building project plans and managing risks, issues, dependencies and pulling teams together while managing stakeholder expectations
- Communication, engagement, documentation and governance skills, working with teams to ensure deliverables are created, communicated and managed as a product lifecycle
**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Experience in Application Performance Monitoring or Observability tools. (Example: Elastic, Splunk, AppDynamics, Wily, ITRS, NewRelic etc)
- Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, OpenShift or Kubernetes
- Exceptional in DevOps tools such as Jenkins for CI/CD, Chef/Ansible for deployment and Git for source control
- Exceptional understanding of web servers such as Apache Tomcat, JBOSS, WebSphere etc
