We are seeking a **Barber **to join our team at **HMP Altcourse.**

**Experience and knowledge requirement for this role**:

- You will be working with challenging prisoners who may at times present with problematic behaviour.
- Train the prisoners to a recognized qualification in barbering so you will be in close contact with prisoners.
- You will be accountable of the equipment and tools in the salon and the safe use of them.
- You will be in change or managing a diary for Prisoner appointments.
- Develop a salon style training environment.
- Must have great communication skills.
- Ensure all relevant policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safeguarding of prisoners including health and safety and the local security strategy.
- Proven experience in barbering
- Experience of working as a barber
- Understanding of current legislation and health and safety issues within the Hair & beauty trade salon.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a controlled environment and remain calm under pressure.
- To be considered for this role, you must hold a valid barbering or hairdressing qualification.
- A valid barbering instructor qualification is required for this position or experience as a trainer.
