We are looking for an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team at our popular Thai restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, managing the kitchen team, and ensuring the highest quality of food is delivered to our customers.

We are a Thai street food restaurant serving an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. We open from 12 and close at 10 or 11pm depending on the day of the week.

The salary is negotiable and depends on the skill and experience of the applicant. Tips are approximately an additional £4000-£5000 per year and are untaxed cash tips distributed directly every week. All tips go to staff, and are split 50/50 between front of house and kitchen.

The total earnings for this 45 hour per week position of salary + tips is up to £38,000 per year. We can also dicuss a performance based bonus for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Managing and mentoring the kitchen staff to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
- Creating and implementing standard operating procedures, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, and maintaining inventory control
- Conducting regular stock checks, ordering and maintaining stock levels, and ensuring that food wastage is minimized
- Communicating with the front-of-house team and management to ensure efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction
- Adhering to the restaurant's budgetary guidelines and ensuring that food costs are kept within budget

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with Thai cuisine is not essential but prefered
- A solid understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations, as well as kitchen management and inventory control
- Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to think creatively
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage a team of kitchen staff

**Salary**: From £33,000.00 per year
