**Responsible to** The Bursar via the Catering Manager

**Qualifications and Experience**: Food Safety Level 1 (desired but not essential)

**Overall purpose of job**: Catering related duties including food service, washing up and departmental cleaning duties.

**Key areas include**:

- Adhering to food hygiene and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations at all times
- Complying with Health and Safety legislation and in accordance with School policy and procedures
- Efficient cleaning of kitchen equipment and dining furniture as required in designated areas
- Assisting with all catering service on site including assistance with the preparation, setting up and serving of meals
- Washing up
- Reporting issues/problems encountered to a supervisor
- Performing tasks with a positive and helpful attitude, providing a customer focussed service which is courteous and responsive and meets the needs of the customers at all times

Stockport Grammar has a very busy kitchen supplying 1,600 meals per day at lunch time. All key result areas identified above are designed to achieve the School’s declared objectives as detailed in the Statement of Purposes and Aims Policy.

**Training and Development**:
To be aware of overall department business, personal objectives and whole school aims.

To take part in an appraisal review to be held at appropriate intervals, one of the benefits of which will be the identification of job-relevant training needs.

Job related training will be provided including use of cashless payment systems.

**Personal Specification**:

- Good communication skills
- Demonstrates high levels of self-motivation and has the ability to work on own or as part of a team
- Presentable and smart in appearance with good personal hygiene
- Willing to take responsibility and pride in the role and the wider school environment
- Excellent timekeeping skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility and the ability to respond to changing demands and adapt working hours where required

Catering uniform will be provided.

This job description, hours and days of work may be varied to meet the changing demands of the School at the reasonable direction of the Bursar. Any significant changes will, wherever possible, be made after consultation.
