Fitter

MW Groundworks is a family business established in 1992 located in South Lanarkshire, Central Scotland. Over time, the company has built a sound financial base, allowing us to successfully complete a variety of types and scale of contracts throughout Scotland and Northern England completing a range of Civil Engineering, Landscaping Fencing and Site Clearance projects. We are seeking a Plant Mechanic to join our team and play a crucial role in supporting our site based teams who will be based in our workshop in Tarbrax, but will also be required to travel to sites throughout Scotland.

**The Role**

The role as Plant Fitter will involve the periodic inspection of company equipment, its maintenance and servicing of company plant. The Health & Safety of our workforce is of paramount importance to the company and this role is an integral part of this. The nature of the role requires the individual to be prepared to take responsibility as this is a position where we need to put a great deal of trust in the individual. We would expect the individual to be organised and use initiative to complete tasks in an expected timeframe. A knowledge of vehicle maintenance would be an advantage. This position offers a great opportunity for someone who has an ambition to manage and run a workshop.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Service & Maintenance**
- Complete service and maintenance for mechanical and non-mechanical plant and specialist equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and company processes.
- Carry out workshop jobs recording hours and parts used for all service, maintenance and repair work.
- Updating plant certification and maintenance records as required.
- Raising orders for parts for repair and stock monitoring stock requirements.
- Identify equipment for disposal and highlight to management.

**2. On Site Service & Maintenance**
- Complete onsite service and maintenance for mechanical and non-mechanical plant and specialist equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and company processes.
- Liaise with our clients on site work to ensure they are aware of progress and potential down time of equipment.

**3. Health and Safety**
- Complete tasks in accordance with risk assessments, notifying Works Supervisor of any potential non compliance.
- Report accidents and near misses using the correct methods.
- Ensure the correct PPE is used in the workshop at all times.
- Maintain excellent levels of housekeeping.

**4. Quality**
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by providing suggestions and feedback to Management.
- Work to agreed timescales updating the Works Supervisor where required.
- Maintain good communication with Works Supervisor and Management at all times.
- Keep workshop and yard tidy and organised and records in good order

**5. Essential Requirements**:

- Previous experience working as a Plant Fitter
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Self motivated and able to prioritise task
- Prepared to take responsibility & ownership of tasks
- Ability to work well within a team, offering support to others
- Driving license
- Prepared to work overtime as required

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Forklift Licence

Pay: £25,000.00-£45,000.00 per year depending on experience
