Applications are invited to fill a whole-time Senior Clinical Fellow post in Histopathology. Applicants should have an established or developing interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

This newly created post offers an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic Cellular Pathology Service and to develop specialist diagnostic and research interests with the enthusiastic support of the corresponding clinical teams.

We wish to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Histopathology (OMF Pathology) to start as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

Working as part of a specialist team presents an excellent opportunity gain a broad range of experience in all aspects of pathology in this specialist area. The Head and Neck Pathology team manages a broad range of specimens including ENT, Oral & Maxillofacial, skull base, thyroid histology and Head and neck cytology. The team provides core membership to the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North Somerset network MDT and frozen section support to both ENT and OMF Surgical colleagues. Together with Head and Neck radiology colleagues the team provides a weekly ‘rapid diagnosis’ Head and Neck one stop clinic and this is also supported by BMS colleagues

You will be expected to take an active part in the specialist team in a manner which complements the needs of the service and will work under supervision.

Salary will be either on Nodal Point 4 or 5 depending on experience:

The existing Cellular Pathology service was formed in May 2016 when the North Bristol service and the UHBristol service came together to provide a single service for Bristol. In April 2019, the work that had been delivered from Weston General Hospital also moved to this department. We provide cervical screening services to the South West region.

We, Severn Pathology, provide several services under one roof. Importantly, the Genomics laboratory Hub is co-located with the other pathology disciplines and is the lead provider of laboratory services for the South West of England
