**Play Away West End** are looking for an experienced Kitchen Assistant to join their team. We encourage all our children to develop healthy choices and extend their enjoyment of food through shared meal-times. We like to provide food that is free from artificial colourings and additives, meals containing no added salt, recipes with reduced sugar content, a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables every day and healthy vegetarian options.

This role will be 10am-2pm, Monday-Friday, all year round. Please note this is **not** a term time only role.

**Main responsibilities include**:

- Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements; complete the Kitchen Hygiene Checklist each month, and ensure that the Cleaning Schedule is complete and adhered to, being regularly updated and displayed prominently in the kitchen
- Ensure you meet the legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health and hygiene at all times, and the necessary paperwork is completed
- The nursery staff will tell you each day of the numbers to cater for; prepare and cook enough age-appropriate food (cooked as near to the point of service as possible) for all the children on a daily basis, with minimum wastage
- Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
- Support the manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome
- Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play

**Requirements and skills**:

- Experience and qualified to the appropriate level in any role which involves cooking in domestic or commercial property
- Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies
- Experienced and passionate about any role that involves cooking for young children

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: From £9.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

- West End, SO30 3FE: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
