Multi-skilled Hdd Operative

As OCU Group is expanding massively, we are now looking to recruit individual(s) to join our Trenchless Installations teams operating on our Horizontal Directional Drilling sites across the UK and on occasion, in Europe. The right individual(s) will have the chance to work as part of established teams of highly skilled and experienced HDD utility installation workers and with rigs ranging from 20tonne to 400tonne in size. They will be expected to work within not only their site team but as part of the bigger Trenchless Installations team, this will include covering absence within another team on an alternate site on occasion.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work efficiently within a team of varying size on an HDD site.
- Work in a role (depending on experience) as one or more of the following: HDD rig operator, Mud Engineer, HDD tracker, HDD operative.
- Use company plant and vehicles in a safe manner in line with operating guidelines.
- In the role of a HDD rig operator, you will be required to operate one of the HDD rigs the company owns. You will be expected to carry out mandatory training across the fleet of rigs to ensure you can cover any absence on alternate sites.
- In the role of HDD operative, you will operate the excavators to assist in tasks such as, and not limited to, drilling entry and exit pits, using a tong hand excavator attachment to produce and disconnect trails of rods for the HDD rig operator to use during the drill.
- For those starting in a developmental role, you will be expected to complete mandatory training set out in an agreement to become a multi skilled HDD operative able to cover one or more of the above roles. You will be expected meet objectives of training set out by the site supervisor and the operations manager prior to being moved to a permanent position.
- You will be required to assist, as part of the team, in the site mobilisation set up and demobilisation by setting up/packing away supplies and equipment as directed by the site manager in a safe and efficient manner.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Experience operating one or more of the following equipment: HDD rig, Mud Motor, Digitrak F5, Excavator.
- Full Driver’s license and HGV Class 1 License.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) license.
- Punctual and flexibility to working hours is required.
- Flexibility to work location is essential.
- Good communication and listening skills are essential to ensure the safety of yourself and those in your team.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, including but not limited to adverse or unforeseen weather.

**Desirable Experience**:

- Experience working in the utility industry.
- EUSR water (or equivalent).
- NPORS or CPCS HDD.
- NPORS or CPCS excavator.
- First aid trained.
- Site safety trained.
