Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner

The NSFT West Suffolk Youth Team, based at Newmarket Hospital, are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic health practitioners, who are looking to expand their skills and knowledge base, working in an experienced and consistent MDT.
The service provides assessment and treatment to young people age 16-25 in a specialist youth pathway.
Our team responds to a diverse range of referrals, from emotional dysregulation to trauma, providing assessment and formulation, utilising assistant psychologists in delivering brief interventions. The role encompasses care coordination as a key intervention and we are looking to offer further systemic training to enhance the expertise of our workforce. Currently we have access to a 2 year Family Therapy Foundation training, which can form the first part of a masters in FT. We are also developing promotion opportunities within our YAMHS pathway, by making available band 7 positions, so we can attract good staff to stay with us, develop skills and move forward in their career.
You will be an excellent communicator, self-motivating and committed to delivering high quality standards of care. You will be a confident and experienced practitioner with excellent assessment skills and the ability to formulate clinical decisions and management plans and act on them quickly whilst working in a demanding and challenging environment.
You will have a caseload and coordinate care, providing assessment, formulation and treatment. You will do this in a systemic way working with patients, their families and the system around them. You will have full support of the MDT, with regular team meetings, places for case discussion and supervision monthly.
We value team connection and wellbeing, for example once per month we have a day in a village hall, as one team, for 'protected time'. This allows us to think in calmness about our own wellbeing and how we do the job and stay connected. It also allows us to skills and we have specific reflective practice and in house training on these days.

We have recently started a merger of the 2 youth teams across West Suffolk, but will continue for now to based in our localities. In the future locality base is likely to be in Bury St Edmunds.
