Premier Engineering has engaged with a key client and a world leader high performance machines and power systems within Aerospace & Defence. Due to a demand in new projects and team growth we are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join on a permanentbasis.
We are working on a number of really exciting Hybrid electric aircraft programs with global aerospace and defence manufacturers. The projects aim to improve flight safety, improve efficiency of aircraft and ultimately our ambition is to be a major driver behindthe proliferation of this technology.
**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**
The role will primarily be focused on design using CAD packages in both 3D and 2D. The individual will need to be able to work with Solid Edge though users of similar 3D CAD packages will be considered i.e. SolidWorks, Inventor etc.
The designs will have to be proven to be fit for purpose and comply with customer specifications. This may require the individual to carry out hand calculations and use of FEA during the design phase of a project. The individual must be comfortable in liaisingwith external contractors and demonstrate and understanding of:
- Materials
- FEA
- Stress Analysis
The extent of your duties will include:
- Support a diverse team within a demanding environment.
- Design, develop and engineer high quality models using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
- Produce CAD designs that meet targets for feasibility, performance, costs, quality, safety, legislation and timing.
- Interact with customers, subcontractors and manufacturing department to obtain critical design information necessary to complete projects within intended time frame.
- Develop and prepare engineering drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts from sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Attend design / conference call meetings as and when required.
- Write technical documents to support designs and / or as part of a regulatory submission.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
To perform well in the role, you will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to mediate technical discussion. You will have a questioning attitude and will be able to demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills in a complex environment.
