**Deputy Residential Manager - Speech and Language - Communication Needs - Surrey**

**The School**:
The school is based in Chertsey, Surrey and provides support for primary aged students that have speech and language and communication needs. All students that attend the school have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which details their specificneeds in terms of the care and support they will have access to. The pupils at the school can struggle to form strong, healthy relationships and can present high levels of anxiety and challenging behaviour.

The school are looking for a Deputy Residential and Medical Manager. You will be working with the residential manager to support the residential team to continually develop the residential curriculum, working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists,Occupational Therapists, Teachers and Learning Support Assistants to enable all our children become independent.

In the absence of the Residential Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the residential department creating a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. You will lead the residential staff to develop and run activities that are fun, whilstsupporting skill development, ensuring the quality of care is maintained across all shifts. You must have the ability to discriminate effectively between those decisions, which can be deferred, and those which need immediate attention.

It will be key to keep up to date with Residential Special School National Minimum Care Standards, Social Care Inspection Framework and Safeguarding developments locally and nationally. Ensuring that Safeguarding is 'Outstanding' within the residential provisionis a key element to this role.

**Hours and salary**:

- Up to 39 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, all school holidays paid, shifts
- Evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- £30,902-32,467 per annum (plus up to £2652 for sleep ins)
- L3 Diploma in Residential Care
- L5 Qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent or a willingness to work towards this Experience in a leadership role within Residential Childcare
- Flexibility with shift patterns and a willingness to chip in with extra hours when needed
- Home based skills such as cooking, cleaning and gardening/maintenance
