Here at Optima we are working with a worldwide leading automotive testing, inspection and certification company based in Towcester. They have an opening for a **Senior Engineer - Electronic.**

Within this role you will take responsibility for all project files assigned to you. This responsibility is both technical and administrative, ensuring it is up to date at all times and complete when presented for peer review.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- To undertake the more complex and demanding test work and projects.
- To take responsibility for all customer management and interaction in relation to non
- commercial/contractual issues for all the files under your responsibility.
- To check the work schedule at least 3 working days in advance of the proposed start date to verify both equipment and staff resources and bring to the attention of the commercial/sales department any project issues.
- To sign-off the project file for approval to proceed with testing.
- To assist with the training of new/junior staff and supervise them during testing in accordance with our clients Technical procedures and Quality Manual.
- To support and mentor the junior staff in their work and to check the conduct and accuracy of both the testing and reporting.
- To provide first line support for product fixes.
- To maintain a sound working knowledge of all the standards you are signed-off to test, and to make sure you are aware of all amendments, withdrawals, new standards, and announcements concerning future changes.
- To make recommendations to Senior Management regarding future requirements in relation to test equipment/capital investment.
- To vet the content of test reports, certificates and flexible schedule assessments and authorise their release.

**Qualifications and skill set**:

- HND/HNC or NVQ level III in Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification in a related field. Alternatively, a proven level of experience within the field of EMC testing.
- Four years experience testing and measuring in an EMC test environment.
- A good telephone manner is required with a clear and precise command of the English language with at least one year's experience of customer contact at contractual and technical level.
- Proven management skills are necessary; ideally one year's experience with technical personnel reporting to you.
- The ability to schedule tasks and ensure that staff, equipment and facilities are available to allow work to be completed on time must be demonstrated.
- Good IT skills and experience using software packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
- The ability to accurately express test results in a written report is essential.
