Software Engineer (Java)
- remote working available £50,000 - £64,000 depending upon experience
Responsibilities for Software Engineer (Java):

- Develop, enhance and maintain software solutions.
- Maintain, develop and enhance business support and process tools /projects as required
- Assist with analyzing requirements for new products, including liaising directly with end users and product management
- Ensure that you maintain proficiency in a wide range of technology products/ platforms
- Full participation in and adherence to the Agile Scrum process.
- Use of Vontier Business Systems (VBS) processes for Lean Software Development, Problem Solving Process, Daily Management, Kaizens
- Collaborate and communicate effectively within the team and to business stakeholders
- Promote and drive a passionate customer driven culture by ensuring a strong focus on delivery, execution and the customer
- Commit to product quality, particularly by means of code reviews, implementation of unit tests and QA test execution where required.
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific, numerate or IT discipline with ideally a master's degree or at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Competencies for Software Engineer (Java)
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
Confident, enthusiastic and able to demonstrate initiative and an ability to adapt to change.
A team player willing to promote high standards that enable the team to deliver excellence to the customer.
Essential Skills for Software Engineer (Java)
Proven industry experience of software development using Java Object-oriented programming skills in Java and/or C#.
Experience with relational database design and performance optimization.
Strong problem-solving skills - with the ability to carefully analyse and drive to root cause. Experience of developing in an Agile process.
Ability to understand/learn new languages, technologies and tools.
Desirable for Software Engineer (Java):
Proven skills in.NET Development.
Knowledge in designing and implementing micro services architecture and using message queue engine or streaming platform (e.g. RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka, Kinesis, etc).
Experience of SOAP, Restful, XML, Json and Linq.
Knowledge in the location services, GIS, or geospatial industries would be advantageous but not essential.
