Leading Law firm based in Manchester is currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Advisor.

**The Team**

Currently consists of a Payroll Manager, two Senior Payroll Advisors and a Payroll Advisor running two English payrolls and two Scottish payrolls for approx. 2000 employees.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the other Payroll colleagues to carry out all aspects of running the payrolls and provide cover and assistance with the Scottish payrolls as required
- Ensuring that all starters and leavers are processed promptly, accurately and in good time for payroll deadlines on the payroll, pension and the HR systems
- Prepare manual calculations where necessary
- Prepare and transmit BACS files in accordance with bureau deadlines
- Calculate and process maternity calculations and P11D information and the PSA
- Pension including auto-enrolment, monthly pension assessments, payment of the pension contributions
- Processing month end reports and journals for Finance, and reconciling Payroll GL accounts
- Payment of the HMRC, third party payments and ad-hoc payments to employees
- Liaise with HR and Finance as required to fulfil the job role
- Provide feedback and be involved with process improvement
- Take on any additional work as required as the job evolves

**Essential Skills & Experience**
- Good overall payroll knowledge including manual tax & NIC calculations, and statutory leave such as SMP and ShPP.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Able to use own initiative and proactive in resolving queries
- Ability to build relationships within HR and Finance as well as with our employees
- Strong attention to detail and able to multi-task effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- High level of computer skills, including being able to pick up use of new software quickly, and good Excel skills
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, and able to meet all deadlines
- Able to listen and act on instructions promptly
- Good sense of customer service, providing our employees with quick and complete answers to their queries.
- Willing to grow into the role and adapt as required
