Full time - Permanent - 42.5 hrs per week

Including Company vehicle and fuel card plus overtime/callout premiums

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team here at Mears as a General Operative. Based in Dover We are offering a £11.90 per hour plus great company benefits which include fun days paid for by the company, discounts on high street shopping and online retailers, health insurance and much more

You will primarily be a General Operative / Handy person

Your duties will include:

- To be responsible for general maintenance including possible light building and property repairs, possible repairs of fencing, painting, floor and wall tiling, furniture repairs, general DIY including replacing locks, handles etc.
- To carry out repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior areas including putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, porter age including erecting/dismantling and moving furniture, removing waste and cleaning properties, grass cutting and general grounds maintenance
- To carry out maintenance, repairs work & routine checks in accordance with health & safety regulations including risks assessments & maintain statutory records;
- To maintain and unblock sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks.
- Inspect houses and the surrounding properties to identify type and source of infestation
- Develop treatment plans and prevention methods
- Provide service user with safety warnings
- Treat rooms, furnishings, wood, clothing and surrounding areas by spraying powders, gasses or other chemical solutions on affected areas
- Remove dead insects, rodents and weeds, and ensure the premises are free of all treatment chemicals
- Carry out cleaning tasks to ensure the agreed standards are maintained for all accommodation
- To generally maintain any cleaning equipment, e.g. vacuum sweeper. To ensure that all equipment is used and stored in a safe manner and kept in a clean condition.
- To clean the public rooms, corridors, stairs and bathrooms.

What are we looking for?
- You will be comfortable with IT and being able to use a tablet for recording work carried out and taking photographs.
- The ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis and produce information in a written form, including completion of all necessary work documentation.
- The ability to work with the minimum of supervision as part of a team
