Assistant Speech and Language Therapist
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Speech and Language Therapist to join our adult SLT services working within hospital and community settings to deliver individual and group therapy to patients. The post holder will be working with a diverse client group, including patients who have suffered a stroke and who have long-term conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease.
The post will be based at Blyth Community Hospital and will involve working with patients living in the South East Northumberland area.
The post will involve assisting the Speech and Language Therapists in supporting patients communication or swallowing by implementing individual and group therapy plans, providing communication aids and supporting clinical administrative systems.
The post holder will work independently with their own caseload of clients under supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist.
The post holder will be working with patients in hospital settings, in patients own homes and in care homes, and will be liaising with other professionals within and outside of the Trust.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
Main duties of the post include

To make and maintain therapy resources in order to facilitate intervention programmes, under Speech and Language Therapists’ direction.
