**Job Overview**

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and self
- motivated paediatric audiologist to join the Community Paediatric Audiology Assessment Service. We are a small, busy team of community based paediatric audiologists and senior audiology assistants carrying out diagnostic paediatric hearing assessments in satellite clinical venues in and around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated audiologist with recent post graduate experience in paediatric assessment, to help deliver a high quality diagnostic assessment service to children aged between 6 months and 19 years in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland area.

Applicants will have excellent time management and organisational skills to manage and prioritise demanding workloads and will need to be a flexible team player, but also be confident to work independently to meet the team objectives. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work sensitively and effectively with children and families, in addition to being able to work calmly and methodically under pressure.

Please note the following;
**As the role requires travel to a variety of healthcare settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, you will need to be flexible to travel to all delivery sites, to meet the needs of the service, post holders will need to have a full UK driving license and access to a car during working hours.**

This service delivers paediatric assessments only, for children aged from 7 months through to 19 years - there is no rehabilitation element to this role.

**Essentially applicants will have**:

- BSc in Audiology or equivalent
- Evidence of recent post graduate Paediatric Assessment experience
- A current clean UK driving licence and own vehicle

**Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)**
- To lead diagnostic clinics and assess the hearing of children and young people aged from 6 months to 19 years of age using a range of specialist behavioural techniques as well as advanced tests of middle ear function.
- To work autonomously, following all national and local protocols and guidelines and be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care
- To lead review clinics for children with confirmed hearing loss or for children with conditions with associated risk factors for hearing loss and make outcome decisions for further referral/further monitoring as appropriate.
- To demonstrate highly specialist paediatric skills in dealing with very young children or children/ young people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- To participate in audit and research projects to further own and the teams’ clinical practice
- To maintain accurate and timely electronic records including audiological assessments and onward referrals in line with core standards and trust policy.
