- In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose - to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you’d like to work in, we’d love to hear from you.- The Parliamentary Affairs and Intelligence Team of around 30 staff sits in the 90-strong Private Office, Intelligence and Parliamentary division, led by the Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State. Our role is to support Ministers and officials to deliver the Department’s objectives through intelligent, collaborative and strategic parliamentary management, insight and engagement.
- You will join the small and supportive Parliamentary Affairs team, who are vital to the delivery of Parliamentary work across the Department. You will develop innovative ways to support and deliver the Department’s parliamentary business.**Responsibilities**:
- Your main responsibilities will be:
- Providing briefing to No. 10 for Prime Minister’s Questions and for the Leader of the House of Commons’ weekly Business Statement. This will involve reading packs, coordinating officials to clear lines relevant to their policy areas and returning the latest lines to No. 10 and the Leader’s office. You will ensure packs are in the style required by the Chamber and provide the detail requested.
- Commissioning briefings for debates for departmental ministers in the House of Commons. You will become familiar with a range of teams and private offices across the Department, as well as build relationships with colleagues in Parliament.
- Commissioning Government responses to e-petitions and public petitions.
- Providing occasional cover for the Lords Briefing Officer.
- Supporting the Parliamentary Clerk and Deputy Parliamentary Clerk on a range of business including Oral Questions and debates.
