Junior Data Centre Engineer

Vysiion, an Exponential-e Group company, is a growing organisation specialising in providing IT Managed Services and Consultancy to the UK Public Sector including local and central government agencies, blue light, healthcare and defence. **Your Role**: This is the perfect role for a hands on inidvidual keen to get into engineering, as Junior Data Centre Technician you'll gain exposure to one of our data centres you'll be responsible for providing customer support to our large and diverse client base ensuringService Levels are maintained and the ticketing system is fully up to date. Training will be provided to get you up to speed You'll shadow more experienced members of the team and be able to progress on your path to becoming a pro **Location**:Farnborough **Hours**: rota changing weekly early shift, middle and later shifts between the hours of 6am-11am - Early Shift 0600 to 14:30 - Middle Shift 10:00 to 18:30 - Late Shift 14:30 to 23:00 **Key responsibilities for this job include but not limited to**: - Gain understanding of basic support functions within the Data Centre with a view to progress into other roles within the Data Centre and the wider business - Installation of server, network and storage hardware with associated cabling/patching - Perform cabling/patching duties of both copper and fibre for a variety of different client requirements - Perform various remote hands duties within Data Centre’s which include power cycling equipment, replacing failed hardware components, re-seating network cards and testing cabling - Perform regular checks for network activity, firewall status and display errors through LED alerts or system monitoring tools - Act as an access host for visitors of our clients to their Data Centre’s - Maintain a professional and disciplined approach at all times when working within client Data Centre’s - Participate in 24x7x365 on call Rota to provide support for client access at Data Centre's, Client Migrations, Smart Hands Requests, Installation works for Managed Hosted clients, Scheduled maintenances/upgrades for Managed Hosting and Infrastructure upgrades,Circuit Down/Faults and any other works deemed Out of Hours Internally or by our Clients **What you need**: - "Can do" attitude with a passion to progress within a career in the IT industry - Previous hands on experience (doesn't have to be role specific) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Full UK Driving License - Logical in your approach to troubleshooting, problem solving and fault diagnosis **About Vysiion** Vysiion deliver bespoke solutions to private and public sector organisations, from the installation of fibre optic or microwave links for offshore windfarms, to the delivery of turnkey communications systems, the provision of end to end ICT Managed Services,secure hosting solutions for schools, charities, Government departments and the emergency services, as well as security solutions across the SCADA networks.
