We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Ophthalmology with an interest in Glaucoma, Cornea, External diseases Surgery. The post will support an expanding clinical workload and contribute to pre
- and post-operative care in a specialist surgical setting.
This post is for 12 months Maternity Leave cover.
The post will add to the collective skill set of the department and applicants should be proficient and experienced in the speciality and capable of independent practice. Support will be available in working in a new environment, but previous experience in these specialities is essential.
This role is to provide consultant services for Glaucoma, Cornea, External diseases and General Ophthalmology to maintain the capacity of the departments to manage the volume of referrals into the Trust. The post holder will be expected to diagnose and treat the spectrum of Anterior segment conditions. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to the overall cataract commitment of the Trust and will be expected to continue overseeing the post-operative management of such as appropriate. There is an element of on call in this post.

As a Consultant at the Trust, it is expected that you will share responsibility for the development and delivery of your clinical service. You will work with colleagues to ensure that your service meets all relevant professional, national, and local service standards and targets..
The job plan is indicative and may change. While there will be a number of regular lists, we encourage all consultants to be flexible for their own continuous development and to provide service delivery. The job plan will be reviewed after six months. All Consultants are expected to participate in team job planning which will be led by the Clinical Director and supported by the General Manager. Each Consultant also has an agreed individual job plan with service objectives that they are reasonably expected to achieve.
As a senior figure and role model in the organisation, you will demonstrate the behaviours and values that are expected of all staff: in particular taking pride in the services we offer, showing humanity and consideration for patients and colleagues, and seeking continuous improvement through research, development, and innovation. You will actively engage with the General Medical Council revalidation process.
