**Responsibilities**:
As a healthcare assistant your duties will include:

- Acts to maintain personal safety and security and that of others
- Supports the full implementation of all Trust policies in the delivery of safe clinical care.
- Assists in identifying potential and actual risks using the Trust incident reporting system in line with Trust policy and escalates as appropriate.
- Identifies patients at risk and raises concerns appropriately on issues of child protection and the protection of vulnerable adults
- Takes appropriate action to initially manage emergency situations summoning appropriate assistance where necessary
- Identifies unsafe practice and escalate appropriately to ensure a safe outcome
- Always act in such a manner that promotes a positive image of the ward / clinical area and the Trust

**Service Delivery**:
1. Assists patients and carers in their care and treatment under direct supervision, ensuring appropriate consent and agreement is gained

2. Acts as patients advocate respecting patients’ dignity wishes and beliefs

3. Ensures that nursing care is delivered with compassion putting the patient at the centre of your thinking

- Under the supervision of the registered nurse acts within own level of competency to undertake specific interventions and treatments seeking advice and supervision
- Monitors the patient’s response and reaction to intervention/treatment or distress and escalates to the registered nurse
- Acts to always ensure patient safety and hold self to account for decisions, actions, and omissions in patient care
- Undertakes personal care duties as required including bathing, toileting
8. Ensures environment and equipment is clean and fit for purpose and ready to use

9. The post holder will work effectively as a member of the team carrying out designated patient care activities: e.g.
- Temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, oxygen saturation, level of alertness - to complete New Early Warning Score (NEWS)/Paediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS)
- Urinalysis
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Weight and Height
- Wound Care

10. The post holder will contribute to the completion of assessment in relation to:
Pain, nutrition (MUST), falls, pressure areas (Braden), oral hygiene, V.I.P., manual handling

**Entry requirements**
- No convictions
- Full DBS done through the hospital

**Shifts & Salary**:
Working up to 7 days a week

Very flexible shifts available

Band two - **£18,870 to £20,270**. Band two (two years' experience) - **£19,918 to £21,318**.
