A vacancy has arisen for a Retinal Screener
Postholder will be expected to undertake Health Screener Diploma and once qualified this post will be an excellent opportunity for the qualified screener to expand their role, with the potential to develop skills in specialist areas of this field.
Postholder will be the first contact for people attending the screening service and will be expected to support service users through the screening process and to ensure they ware fully informed as to the expectations/limitations of screening

To accurately measure visual acuities and instil mydriatic drops
To capture Retinal images from the patient using a non-mydriatic fundus digital camera
To provide diabetic eye screening and advice to patients, relatives and carers where there may be barriers to understanding.
To be able to identify when patients require fast track referral and triage to appropriate 'traffic light' response queue or inform verbally of identified urgent sight threatening diabetic retinopathy to senior level graders.
To make decisions and judgements based on the information provided by the patient, therefore being able to work autonomously throughout the day
