**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Position Title**:
Sales Assistant (Full Time)

**Reporting to**:
Shop Manager

**Overall Responsibility**:
To assist in the smooth running of the Taunton Leisure Store and to provide excellent Customer Service through knowledge of the products sold

**Key Tasks**
- being punctual so that the store is open and ready for business in good time each working day
- ensuring that the store is always tidy and uncluttered
- greeting every customer when they enter the store making sure their needs are met
- providing the customer with the best shopping experience in the area, through friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and courteous service at all times
- operating the till effectively including when required, helping to cash up at close of business
- keeping up to date with your knowledge of the products that are stocked and familiarising yourself with all products sold instore
- taking responsibility for ensuring you know about the current in-store promotions
- correctly using the returns procedure for any stock that is faulty and returned by a customer for repair/replacement
- being prepared to help with the annual and interim stocktaking exercises
- taking responsibility for asking the manager/assistant manager/senior sales assistants for training in specific area if you feel you need it, to help with your knowledge of the products
- ensuring that you are always well presented and wearing a clean uniform
- willingness to attend off site training where necessary
- willingness to work at other locations where reasonable to help cover short staff etc

**Qualifications Required**:

- confidence in dealing with the general public

**Skills Required**:

- common sense
- good communications skills
- good team player
- enthusiasm and a willingness to learn about the products TL sell
- active involvement in the outdoors
- skilled at operating the till and point of sale system
- good time keeping
- politeness and sociable personality

**Salary**: £18,895.50 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Bristol: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
