Sewell Wallis are delighted to be working with a large, well-known retailer based in West Yorkshire who are looking to recruit a commercially focused Senior Finance Manager, to work closely with their logistics side of the business.
This company have gone from strength to strength and thrived throughout the pandemic. Having recently expanded the services they can offer their customers; they now need to add to their finance team given the extra work coming through. They are also ensuringthat they have the correct succession planning in place, so the current Financial Controller can start to delegate their work as they continue to progress in the company.
We are looking to speak to strong finance business partners to take on this newly created role of Senior Finance Manager. Where you will manage a small team and effectively partner with senior stakeholders across the business.
As the Senior Finance Manager, your role will include the following duties:

- Manage two qualified accountants, leading effective one to ones and implementing realistic targets and expectations
- Challenging areas of risk with senior operational managers by weekly reviews of key spend variables
- Building robust and collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders
- Control the bi-annual budget and periodic forecast process for the logistics operation
- Work closely with the operations area of the business to ensure the correct variables are being modelled
- Take ownership of the capex forecasting and planning process
- Ensure that investment appraisals are carried out for all relevant capex project
- Manage and negotiate lease extensions
- Provide monthly finance update to the Directors, giving a clear view on variance to plan and year on year cost performance
- Consistently seek ways to cut costs across the operations side of the business
- Ensure month end runs smoothly and key deadlines are achieved
- Develop modelling and reporting for the logistics operations
You will need to be a strong man manager who is used to working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines to hit. You must be able to demonstrate that you can work effectively with non-finance individuals, ideally within logistics and distribution.
You will be driven and ambitious and keen to learn from a highly successful, commercially focused Financial Controller.
