Payroll Officer

You will be working as part of an in-house Payroll Team and your role will include the following:
- Using payroll software, Timeware and Sage
- Chasing and checking manual timesheets including overtime sheets and from a T & A System (Timeware), for a range of complex shifts
- Manually calculating and processing payments such as holiday, sick, maternity and paternity and overtime payments
- Answering staff queries about pay slips, time sheets, holidays, etc
- Make a major contribution to the ongoing improvement and effectiveness of procedures and controls
- Processing starters, leavers and holiday requests
- Processing Weekly and Monthly payrolls including manual calculations of Tax, NI, Pensions and Salary Sacrifice
- End to end payroll processing
- Management Reporting
**Personal requirements**
- Strong MS Excel skills (pivot tables, V lookup, etc)
- Proven payroll experience of at least 5 years
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills (confidence in working with numbers and addressing correspondence)
- A keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise work
- Ability to use own initiative
- Organisational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative and to high standards
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Keen analytical skills
- Flexibility busy periods may require longer working hours
- Excellent communication skills

**Essential**
Previous experience is essential, and you will normally meet the following requirements:
- Five years’ experience in processing UK payroll
- Computer skills in Word and Excel with experience creating and using spreadsheets, V-lookups and Pivot Tables
- Eligibility to work in the UK
**General Provisions**
- To promote and comply with all Salisbury policies and supporting procedures
- Experience of working with Sage & Timeware is preferred but not essential
- Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time
- The duties of the post and job description will be regularly reviewed by the Payroll Manager
**Shift Pattern**:
- Working week will be Monday to Friday.
