**Job summary**:
- As Technical Officer you will be tasked with assisting members of the Technical Research Team with work related to the repair, maintenance and retrofit of traditionally constructed buildings. This is likely to include contributing to research work, assisting with enquiries and work to aid in the creation of content in various formats.**Job description**:
- Supporting senior staff in desk-based research work
- Responding to technical enquiries from conservation professionals and members of the public, with support from senior staff members as necessary, and managing the mailbox as required
- Supporting senior staff in the management and administration (including finance) of site projects and other research work
- Supporting senior staff in the creation of content related to publications, education and other material as appropriate
- Assisting in the delivery of outreach, engagement and other events across Scotland and qualification delivery
- Support with editing consultation / policy responses
- Support with the creation of teaching and training resources
**Person specification**:
- Essential requirements:
- Experience in the writing and editing of technical reports or specifications
- Excellent written and spoken English
- A good knowledge of building conservation principles and practices
- A basic knowledge of traditional materials and methods of construction
- Knowledge and experience of site practice in construction
- Some experience in the traditional built environment sector
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite
- Desirable requirements:
- Basic knowledge of energy efficiency in buildings
- Working knowledge of InDesign (Training will be provided)
- Qualifications & Professional Memberships:
- You should have at least an SCQF Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline is essential
- A degree in a relevant discipline would be desirable
- Professional membership or eligibility and willingness to work towards membership of the RICS, CIOB or equivalent is desirable
