Neil Curtis & Sons is on the hunt for a committed and energetic **Labourer / Banksman, **primarily tasked with overseeing the safety of our Grave Mini Digger/Dumper operations and partaking in hands-on labouring tasks crucial for grave excavation and upkeep.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Safety Oversight**:Direct the mini digger/dumper within cemetery grounds, especially in South West London, to ensure safe operations.
- **Effective Communication**: Employ hand signals and radio communication to guide the mini digger/dumper operator, ensuring clarity and precision.
- **Risk Assessment**: Continually assess the work environment for hazards near graves, trees, and structures, maintaining safety.
- **Labouring Tasks**: Actively participate in manual grave digging, site preparation, and clean-up, preserving the cemetery’s condition.
- **Coordination**: Collaborate with the excavation team, aiding both in machinery guidance and manual tasks for optimal efficiency and safety.
- **Visibility**: Maintain a position that allows for the constant observation of operations and clear communication with the operator.
- **Compliance**: Strictly adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- **Training**: Engage in continuous training to improve safety practices and operational skills.
**Qualifications**:
- **Experience**: Prior role experience, especially within cemetery or construction settings, is highly regarded.
- **Certification**: While not required, a valid Banksman certificate is advantageous.
- **Communication**: Essential strong verbal communication skills for team coordination.
- **Attention to Detail**: A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating hazards is crucial.
