To supervise the day to running of the ME service organising the daily workload of the team and acting as the first point of contact for MEO staff requiring advice and support.

Support medical examiners in their role in scrutinising the circumstances and causes of death. To be a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals and coroner and registration services. To support & supervise Medical Examiner’s Officers in their day to day duties.

To act as an intermediary between the bereaved and clinicians to establish and resolve any concerns relating to a patient’s death and care leading up to their death. Work with medical examiners to aid them in their responsibility for overseeing the death certification process for all deceased patients in the organisation/community, as determined by the National Medical Examiner’s Officer.

Assist with referral to the Coroner for further investigation on approval by the Medical Examiner.

Work closely with MEO colleagues to provide an effective and efficient service by using their experience, initiative and judgement to organise the daily work routine, manage workload and ensure priorities are met.

The post holder shall be based at one site but may be required to travel to any other hospital site within ESNEFT to provide advice and training or to attend meetings.
