- Based in the Project Centre, the Portfolio Planner reports to the Portfolio Manager, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, to lead on planning activity to ensure that approved and expected intiatives are captured and scheduled within the Portfolio Delivery Plan. They will ensure clear understanding of what is in the plan, the required dependencies and interlinkages across the Portfolio, and engage with colleagues to ensure clear understanding and one version of the truth.-
**Job description**:
Our Portfolio Planner will have the opportunity to undertake:
**Planning and Scheduling**
- Developing and maintaining the Portfolio Delivery schedule using Microsoft Project. This will involve working with other functions to gather, interpret and verify planning data.
- Maintaining planning risks.
- Recognising, recording and tracking key portfolio dependencies.
- Maintaining correct linkages between project objectives and strategic objectives, including contributions to targets.
- Defining and building appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling at a portfolio level.
- Providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) support in scheduling to our Project Management Officer (PMO) and Project Managers.

**Portfolio Performance and Controls**
- Monitoring and controlling the baseline of key milestones.
- Escalation of milestone changes to the Portfolio Manager and Head of Portfolio Delivery.
- Working with the Head of Portfolio Delivery and Portfolio Manager to provide accurate and timely data required to maintain the High-Level Portfolio Delivery Plan.
- Provision of reporting, including milestone look ahead and other reports as required.

**Stakeholder engagement**
- Managing and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

**Resources**
- Identifying high level portfolio project management resource requirements.

**Management of risks and issues**
- Assisting with and maintaining risk and issue logs, escalating as appropriate.

**Responsibilities**:
- Extensive understanding of project management and delivery methodologies
- Excellent organisational skills
- An ability to prioritise work to meet targets and deadlines
- The ability to work unsupervised and take initiative
- Proven track record of delivery and working with stakeholders at all levels.

**We're also looking for experience of**:

- Extensive experience of planning and scheduling - this should be at programme or portfolio level, project level planning is not sufficient for this role.
- Experience of working in a portfolio and programme environment.
