Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Womenswear Designer to work for a leading global fashion brand across womens day dresses category.
Melbourne may be most familiar to Brits as the setting of the popular Aussie soap Neighbours, but there’s so much more to this popular city than you may think. **Responsibilities**:
Ensure styles are designed/developed and executed in line with the trend/design brief that is set, with the wider design team
- Support buying team and drive design to source stock fabric to enable us to react to in season trade
- Supporting delivery and implementation of the critical path and operating plans
- Product ranges are innovative and in line with the Forever New handwriting, consistent with brand vision and direction
- Designing the right product at the right time to meet customer requirements for the sub-brand or product department
- Identifying and delivering detailed style direction to develop existing products, as well as proposing new product opportunities
- briefing buyers on key products/materials/fabrics, challenging where appropriate. Advising buyers on the aesthetics of the first fit
- Providing input to the product strategy, marketing plan and range development for the sub-brand or product department
- Developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the market, supplier base, competitors and customer segments for all products
- Present concept boards and colour palettes with key silhouettes
- Collaborating with Buying team ensures all bestselling styles have been updated and moved on to fully capitalise on opportunities
- Understand the Company’s brand positioning (including product range, customers, channels, pricing and promotional approach)
- Understand customer demographics and present innovative product ideas for connecting with our customer base
Skills Required:
5+ years in a similar role within womenswear apparel
- Significant leadership experience
- Excellent knowledge of all fabrications and product categories
- Experience working within international markets, focusing on both hemispheres
- Familiarity in dealing within a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong technical knowledge and garment construction skills
- Extensive fabric and raw material knowledge
- Demonstrate a high understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on sales
- Computer literacy in Computer literacy in InDesign, Illustrator, CAD and PowerPoint
- Computer literacy in desktop products, including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word)
