Project QSHE Advisor

**Title Position Reports to**:
QSHE Department

**Job Purpose**:

- Promote an enthusiastic and positive QSHE culture with an engaged workforce striving for continuous improvement in QSHE performance.

**Aims and Objectives**:

- To focus on the expected behaviours for achieving significant results and positive outcomes for the business thus ensuring that Dalkia maintain its leading-edge status within the industry and an excellent reputation with our customers
- Provide positive leadership within the area of operation and promote QSHE best practice
- To support to all relevant parties, providing advice and a solution-based approach to work-based issues that arise during the project delivery

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:

- Advise the project management on all relevant aspects of QSHE protection with emphasis on sound methods of working and systems to identify hazards
- Carry out QSHE audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and risks
- Carry out QSHE inspections and ensure the coordination of risk assessments and method statements
- Provide support in the implementation and continuous improvement of QSHE procedures, including risk assessments and PTW
- Produce QSHE performance reports based on audits and inspections as required.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of the approved QSHE objectives
- Promptly alert line and functional management to significant accidents and incidents
- Investigate accidents, incidents (including “near misses”) and dangerous occurrences in order to make recommendations to prevent recurrences
- Monitor and report on operational QSHE performance and make recommendations for improvement. Monitor to ensure that effective action is taken.
- Assist with the identification and delivery of QSHE training needs including the presentation of formal courses and on-site certification
- Review QSHE training systems and implement any required changes
- Review existing QSHE systems/procedures for current maintenance contracts and implement systems/procedures for new contracts incorporating current legislation and new legislation as it arises
- Assist with the delivery of inductions, toolbox talks and setting to work of project-based personnel

**Working Relationships**:

Interface with QSHE team, line managers, directors and Dalkia Scotland staff at all levels
- **External**_

Interface with client representatives, main contractor, enforcement bodies and supply chain.

**Person Specification**:
The knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience relevant to the position are:

- **Essential**_
- Experienced QSHE professional
- CSCS card
- NEBOSH National Certificate or equivalent
- Sound technical Health and Safety knowledge
- Understanding of HSEQ Management systems
- Understanding of UK HSEQ legislation
- Ability to work independently and with project teams
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office software particularly Sharepoint, PowerPoint and Excel
- A willingness to learn and develop your skills in QSHE
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and hazards
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- **Desirable**_
- Strong organisational, decision-making and communication skills as you will often have to persuade site management to agree with decisions
- CertIOSH working towards CMIOSH
- Experience of training design and delivery, good presentation skills
- Quality and Environment experience.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months
