**Senior Credit & Debt Agent**

**Overview**

We are seeking an individual who has extensive knowledge and a proven track record in managing high value business customers and complex scenarios.

You will work with business customers with high debt balances across multiple sites and accounts to collect high value, complex, aged, and challenging debt. In addition you will own a portfolio of outstanding balances and effectively drive recovery by balancing the needs of the business and customer with a focus on maximising cash collection.

Reliance on strong analytical skills and problem solving will enable you to quickly determine the root cause of debt, establish any blockers to collection and co-ordinate with the business to remove at the earliest opportunity.

**The Role**

Key Accountabilities:

- Own a portfolio of high value complex debt balances for British Gas Energy (BGE) business customer base
- Manage and understand a range of debt types from new to aged invoices, live (on supply) and final debt (including change of supply and change of tenancy) and seek a resolution to the debt
- Trace liable customers who may have left a site utilising all tools provided and engage them directly for payment
- Ability to articulate business position across management structure of customer base. Often working with Business directors and senior stakeholders to drive suitable agreements. Documenting our position to customers where required.
- Demonstrate high level of resilience and be comfortable to negotiate and influence on large debt balances
- Escalate decisions and actions to mitigate business risk and expedite resolutions.
- Manage Queries & Complaints within appropriate SLA
- Reconcile customers’ accounts and balances to validate debt position to ensure payment and articulate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to understand the needs of vulnerable customers
- Use various systems (SAP CRM/ISU, Service Desk, etc) to articulate customer balance to expedite collection and mínimalize business risk.

**The Person**

Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial understanding or a proven track record of success in areas of Debt Collection, Customer service and Query resolution.
- Demonstrable strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve complex problems for customers.
- Knowledge of energy supply, billing, customer care, credit management and associated activities to a complex debt resolution.
- Ability to use computer systems to articulate customer balances to accelerate collection and minimise business risk.
- Demonstrate experience & desire to identify opportunities for process improvement to prevent accumulation of debt.
- Knowledge of our range of products and services.
