1- To act as advisor, ensuring that all health & safety legislation is adhered to and that policies and procedures are adopted, and to help to plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures which provide assurance to the Governor that HMP Inverness can minimise operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries.- Responsibilities- 1- Improve the safety culture within the establishment through raising awareness, competency levels, and commitment to Health, Safety and Fire from all levels, improving communication and establishing robust control systems.- 1- Lead initial accident/fire investigations, identify corrective actions required and drive their implementation.- 1- Report any incidents to outside agencies as required and to liaise with such agencies during investigations etc.- 1- Carry out regular establishment inspections with Managers, GIC and TUS & H&S Representatives to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.- 1- Highlight any potential area of risk to the SPS and establishment to the GIC and Senior Management and to drive through solutions.- 1- Advise all staff on all regulatory requirements and provide training and coaching as required.**Person Specification**- Qualification Requirements- 1Possess NEBOSH General Certificate and be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 5/6 Qualification or equivalent NEBOSH National Diploma within 18-24 Months of taking up post.

- 1Attained NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or SPS Fire Safety Officer Accreditation or willing to work towards within 6 months from taking up post.

- Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements- 1Competent in the use of computerised systems including Microsoft Office.

- 1Knowledge of current Health & Fire Safety legislative requirements within a prison/secure environment.

**Desirable**
- 1Experience of working within the field of Health and Fire Safety
