Are you a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist with an interest in working in an acute physical health setting?
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a leading Cancer Hospital in London and the Adult Psychological Support Service is a well established and respected team.
We have two BANK Band 5 Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) posts available for four to six months.
Provide a qualified clinical/ counselling psychology service to cancer patients, as part of the Adult Psychological Support Service, within a specialist cancer treatment centre at The Royal Marsden.
1.2. The post will co-ordinate our inpatient work and lead the psychological component of this work
1. Screen and triage inpatient referrals and collaborate with ward staff on psychological care plans; respond to enquiries from within the service and across the hospital re day and outpatients.
2. Provide timely specialist psychological assessment and intervention to inpatients whose psychological distress is preventing them from accessing or continuing with cancer tests/ treatment, for example, phobias (e.g. needle, claustrophobia), panic, depression.
3. Provide specialist advice and consultation (in/formally), as well as supervision and training, to clinical teams. For example, attending ward meetings/ handovers, helping staff understand and respond to complex psychological presentations (of patients or relatives) including behaviour that challenges.
