Maternity Smokefree Advisor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Smokefree Advisor Maternity Support Worker. This is a new role within Maternity services and the post holder will be able to develop the role and have a certain amount of autonomy managing own caseload.

The post holder will manage referrals to the Smokefree Service and support pregnant smokers to quit through weekly appointments for on how to manage cravings and will give out Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with patients in a supportive role, is positive about life and how patients can make a difference in their own pregnancy and the life of their families. Good communication skills are essential for this role.

The post holder will have a caseload of pregnant people to support over a two to three month period and will manage the caseload with mínimal support from the Smoking in Pregnancy Midwife. A flexible attitude and ability to travel between hospital sites, other community hubs and patient’s homes is essential.

The post holder will be screening referrals to the service daily, arranging appointments, referring on to other services available, managing own diaries, ordering and maintaining a stock of Nicotine Replacement Products from Pharmacy and seeing patients who are engaging with the Maternity Smokefree Service. This role is varied and therefore interesting for anyone looking to expand their skills and knowledge.
