**Job Title**:Personal Assistant.

**Hours of Work**:Looking to employ a PA on a minimum of 20 hours per week. A large number of additional hours are available as we have staff on maternity leave.

We operate a 3 shift pattern. Hours / shifts to be discussed in interview, but are typically 8:45am to 3:30pm, 2:45pm to 10:15pm and 9:30pm to 10:15am the next morning. Start and finish times can be varied depending on your personal circumstances. Shifts will cover both days and nights, weekdays and weekends as the person requires 24/7 support. Shifts are on a 3 week rolling rota, allowing us to schedule leave and shifts months in advance.

Personal Assistants will need to be flexible to cover the team’s annual leave, maternity leave and sickness.

**Rate of Pay**:£12.00 per hour.

**Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance**:
I am a lady in my 70s living in central Neath. I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to join my team of support workers who are always with me in my home, to ensure that I am safe and promote my independence.

I have an acquired brain injury, which has left me with short-term memory loss and many other hidden disabilities. My mobility is severely restricted due to age related issues and hospital stays due to illness and a stroke in the last year. Due to this reduced mobility I require support with getting up and moving about, using manual aids such as a hoist.

I require reminding and prompting, and also support to access the community. I am good fun and enjoy learning how to use my iPad, playing cards, doings arts and crafts, and going out for meals and attending social groups.

**Tasks Include**:

- Spending time with me in my home, building a relationship with me and my family.
- Assistance with transfers and mobilising.
- Assisting with the administration of medication and use of MAR charts, as per the training provided by the local authority and Dr instructions.
- To empower the lady to make her own decisions and exercise control over of her own life.
- Prompting and assisting the lady to plan and stick to her weekly activity plan, which allows her to attend health appointments, physiotherapy, etc.
- Accompany the lady on her annual leave holidays and day trips as her health allows.
- To monitor health conditions and reporting any changes.
- Personal Assistants must be able to take direction and follow all care plans and risk assessments.
- Completing paperwork and correspondence i.e. timesheets, online logs, fluid and meal intake records, expenses records, appointment diaries etc.
- Support with domestic tasks, such as basic cooking and cleaning.
- To monitor, prompt and assist with medication and personal care.
- Any other reasonable duties.

- Someone who will be confident working in my home on a one-to-one basis and as part of a team
- Car driver preferred
- NVQ or QCF in Care desirable but not essential
- Personal Assistant must be flexible to cover the team leave and sickness

**Additional Information**:
This post will require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). Ideally the DBS check will be completed prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistant's Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
