**About us**
- The Ravensbourne School is a comprehensive secondary school with over 1500 students in attendance. With over 20 acres of land, listed buildings, and sports facilities this is a busy site opening over 7 days per week._

**MAIN DUTIES**:

- Opening and locking up of premises depending on shift. Ensuring external doors and windows, internal doors and boundary gates are properly secured, internal lights off, external security lights on, security alarms activated before departure.
- To be a key holder.
- Liaising with external lettings ensuring correct areas prepared and ready for hire and dealing with any issues that may arise.
- Undertake minor maintenance and DIY.
- To operate the heating, lighting etc.
- To complete various safety checks across the whole school, COSHH, water hygiene etc.
- To prepare and maintain a range of surfaces throughout the school grounds.
- To ensure all sports markings for summer and winter sports are clear and visible at all times.
- To ensure that all sport equipment is maintained in a clean and safe condition and report defects.
- To ensure that all hard surface areas and paths are kept free of litter, leaves, weeds and other debris at all times.
- To ensure that adequate health & safety measures are taken at all times as required by current guidance and legislation.
- To positively support the ethos of the school, taking into account our safeguarding, equal opportunities and behaviour policies in particular.
- To uphold the positive image of the school in the local community in relationships with students, parents and all visitors to the school.
- To take part in training for all aspects of your role as directed by your line manager.
- Moving furniture, setting out of chairs, delivering parcels and equipment around the school site, receiving deliveries and escorting trades people on the site.
- Look out for maintenance and repairs around the School - e.g. a cracked window, graffiti on any surface, lights out, dirty diffusers, clocks wrong etc.
- Act on maintenance requests sent through the helpdesk.
- Carry out tasks within your skills - painting and decorating, carpentry, plumbing etc. as required.
- Carry out regular cleaning duties as required.
- Any other caretaking duties as may be reasonable required.
- To understand the need for confidentiality at all times.
- To make sure the school site a secure and safe environment in line with the school’s Safeguarding policy.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Operate and regularly check systems, such as heating, lighting and security.
- Ensure regular maintenance and safety checks are carried out as per yearly schedule including asbestos and health and safety procedures.
- Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work has been completed to required standards.
- Keep up to date records of daily and weekly health and safety checks.
- Perform duties in line with health and safety and COSHH regulations and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to the Headteacher immediately.
- Undertake regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings (including compliance with fire safety regulations) and equipment, in line with other schedules.
- Facilitate lettings and carry out associated tasks.
- To undertake regular checks on alarm systems and fire extinguishers and report any problems arising.
- To monitor usage of fuel, electricity, water and take meter readings as required.
- To make sure all minibus checks are carried out.

**MISCELLANEOUS**
- To observe the School’s Code of Conduct and be polite and punctual
- To assist in such duties and activities relating to the general administration and control of the school as the Site Manager and/or Business Manager shall from time to time reasonably require
