**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**ROLE**:Bookkeeper - Norwich (OUTSOURCING)
**REPORTING TO**:Client Accountant
**ROLE SUMMARY**: We are on the lookout for an Assistant Accountant to work within our new Outsource Finance team based in the Norwich office.
The Outsource team provides an in-house finance service for our clients. We use cloud-based software to manage day-to-day tasks and provide our clients with the financial information needed to help grow their businesses.
Ideally you will be on the way to gaining your AAT qualification and / or have had several years of bookkeeping experience.
**ABOUT THE TEAM**
Outsourcing is a fast-growing department within Farnell Clarke. We are a small friendly team which works together and with the latest cloud technology to service our clients’ financial requirements efficiently. Our clients see us as their virtual finance department, we free up their time so they can focus on their business. Each member of the outsource team has designated clients, and with this comes frequent communication, swiftly ensuring we build strong relationships and are valued members of our client’s team. Bookkeeping is the bedrock of everything we do. Utilising apps we can accurately and efficiently post and reconcile transactions, with the added bonus of reducing laborious data entry. We are always researching the market for tools which will improve processes, constantly trying to improve. The accuracy of the information we provide monthly; management accounts & cashflow forecasts is wholly reliant on the bookkeeping and is hugely appreciated by our clients. Management information, produced in a timely manner, ensure business decisions can be made and clients can be reactive. We are very much focused on each member of the outsource team, encouraging and supporting CPD and career progression.
**Bookkeeper**:
**Key duties and responsibilities**
- Raising sales invoices as per clients’ instructions
- Posting supplier invoices and credit notes using Dext and allocating payments to correct invoices
- Setting up supplier payments
- Collating and paying expenses
- Reconciling all bank accounts including Stripe, Shopify & Paypal/Ebay, foreign currency accounts and credit card accounts
- Posting monthly payroll journals
- Building strong relationships with each client, taking ownership of bookkeeping tasks
- Reviewing Vat returns and carrying out internal checks before filing with HMRC
- Collating and posting all Accruals and Prepayments and maintaining the Fixed Assets within Xero
- Monthly checks of Profit & Loss account and Balance Sheet in preparation for Management Accounts
**Requirements**:
- Proven bookkeeping experience, 2 years’ experience as a minimum requirement
- AAT qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Experience of VAT
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Passion for cloud technology
- Ability to work within a team, communicating effectively with colleagues
- Customer services experience is desirable
- Data entry skills and an aptitude for numbers
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger:
**Responsibilities**:
- Processing supplier invoices, including ensuring invoices are approved by our clients in a timely manner using ApprovalMax
- Checking purchase orders against invoices
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Processing of batch payments using Telleroo
- Reconcile payments to invoices
- Working collaboratively with clients’ team to ensure high quality and efficiency
- Responding to queries from both suppliers and client
- Understanding and implementing clients payables policies
- Monitoring of aged invoices
**Requirements/Qualifications**
- Experience working in accounts payable function or similar
- Understanding of different types of tax treatment.
- Be a team player
- Good communication skills
- Ability to organise and prioritise own tasks
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Good numeracy skills
Salary dependant on experience
