**Job Purpose**

The Quality Assurance team software testing services to both projects and BAU. Ensuring new and

amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as

specified (including security requirements), and that the quality risks associated with deployment are

adequately understood and covered.

The Test Lead is an experienced tester who can manage testing projects and has direct reports.

**Main tasks and responsibilities**

Testing

Develops and works towards mastery on at testing

speciality as per team’s skills matrix

Defines and implements the new specialised

service/domain training under the team

Acts as a quality advocate for projects / BAU work,

helping to ensure that adequate time is allowed for all

testing phases and an acceptable level of coverage is

achieved

Undertakes design, management, execution and

reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and

techniques and conforming to agreed process standards

and industry specific regulations.
- Designs test cases and creates test scripts and

supporting data, working to the specifications

provided.
- Identifies relevant areas for regression testing,

ensuring sufficient coverage achieved to provide

confidence in release.
- Executes test cases and records results in

accordance with project test plans
- Analyses and reports test activities and results.

Identifies and reports issues and risks.
- Identifies, logs, monitors and re-tests defects using

appropriate tool(s).

Verifies multiple quality characteristics as applicable to

the item under test

Provides test estimates (both ROM and firm) to help

ensure work is sized accurately and planning is on the

correct basis

Provides regular progress reports (verbal and/or written as

needed) to QA Manager / PM / senior managers /

stakeholders

Pro-actively identifies and escalate issues that impact

testing, provides suggestions for mitigation / course of

action & takes ownership of relevant mitigating actions.

Completes assigned work by deadlines, and escalates

appropriately where deadline is in jeopardy.

Specifies, or provides input to, acceptance criteria, in

clear and precise terms, in order to ensure protection

from identified system weaknesses.

Supports User acceptance testing phase

Ensure that appropriate handover to System Support &
BAU QA and other test completion activities are planned

and done the appropriate timescales

Maturity and feedback of the

new service created by the

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a software testing role.

Previous experience leading testing & managing resources

Understanding of XML & schemas (XSDs)

Educated to a bachelor degree level or holds a relevant

professional qualification or relevant
