The Automated Vehicle Technologies Group forms part of VCA’s Regulatory & Technology Group. This area of vehicle technology is set to continue to grow within the automotive sector at a rapid rate. For this reason, a more specialised Automated Vehicle Technologies Group has been formed to manage the portfolio of Regulations encompassed by GRVA (UNECE Working Party on Automated/Autonomous and Connected Vehicles).

The role is situated in the Type Approval Authority, who’s overall function is to certify vehicles prior to vehicle registration. Historically this has involved approving the activities performed by VCA’s Technical Service operations, in particular testing carried out to UNECE Regulations. The UK’s exit from the European Union brings the establishment of a new UK Type Approval Scheme with an expectation for greater governance of vehicles fitted with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving Systems (ADS). The first instances of ADS safety assurance by Approval Authorities will be the introduction of Automated Lane Keeping Systems and the advanced trialling of novel automated vehicles.

**As a **Vehicle System Safety Specialist **your main responsibilities would be**:

- Reviewing Manufacturer safety cases for ADS
- Technical Reviewing Certification Activities
- Supporting International and National Regulatory Development
- Knowledge Fostering and Sharing of Vehicle Systems Safety Subjects

- Product development activities for safety critical systems, such as braking, steering, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems or Automated Driving Systems
- Working with automotive safety standards and management systems, such as ISO 26262 or ISO 21448
- Safety analysis at a system level, such as safety concepts, hazard analysis, risk assessments, FMEA, FTA, SPTA
- Knowledge sharing or mentoring on technical topics relating to vehicle systems safety
- Communication skills using a variety of media as appropriate (i.e., presentation skills. Written documentation)

**Should you require reasonable adjustments at any point during the recruitment process or if there is a more accessible way for us to communicate, please do let me know.**- Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._
