**Job Description**:

We are looking for a Head of Sustainability for our fast-growing business in Europe. This is a new role created because of the growth of our pipeline, the number of projects we're constructing, and the continuously evolving standards for sustainable development activity. We also have a large asset base and an ambitious M&A agenda to consider.

When it comes to sustainability our approach is to be proactive and help set the standard. Done well, sustainability is pivotal to our commercial success.

**As part of this role you will be**:

- Managing a central team of sustainability professionals who support projects and build the business area’s sustainability capability
- Building and maintaining a European-wide network of in-country specialists to ensure high professional standards in delivery of support to projects and M&A activities
- Annual planning of our sustainability roadmap factoring in ambitions from the business and requirements of Corporate Sustainability
- Defining and sharing best practice and standards; inspiring and educating the business
- Working directly with asset owners to support their sustainability strategy, to help execute on specific projects, and to facilitate innovation
- Continuously improving our business area’s sustainability management system and our reporting to both management and Corporate
- Working across departments to achieve a cohesive and joined-up approach (sustainable supply chain, project delivery, Corporate)
- Participating in group-wide projects led by Corporate Sustainability
- Representing Statkraft with trade bodies; helping to set standards for our sector
- Speaking at conferences and to the media

**Qualifications**:

- A blend of commercial and sustainability roles
- First-hand experience of the renewables sector and sustainable development best practice
- In-depth experience from working on environmental, social and human rights issues in complex, international businesses
- Understanding of key environmental, social and human rights guidelines and frameworks (such as the IFC Performance Standards, UN Global Compact’s 10 principles, OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights).
- Strong strategy, planning and implementation skills
- International experience gained from working in a multinational company
- A track record of excellent communication and influencing skills
- Programme and change management experience
- Extensive people management experience
- Media experience is a benefit
- An established network of sustainable professionals in the sector
- An infectious passion for sustainability
- An ability to sell the commercial benefits of sustainable development
- A networker and influencer, with proven track record of working in complex organisations
- Masters degree or equivalent
