Group Management Accountant - Perm - B,ham - 35-40kpa + Study Support + Bonus

Normal hours 37.5 hours per week (08:00 - 16:30 Mon-Thu with a 30 min lunch break, 08:00 - 13:30 Fri

Core responsibilities:

- Banking & Group Treasury. Daily sweeps, reviewing transactions, producing daily cash summary, approving new beneficiaries, transferring payments/receipts between subs (e.g. purchases/sales of currency between subs), setting up and approving certain payments,assisting with Group treasury function (managing term deposits and liquidity).
- Bad debts. Get data from subs periodically on sales ledger positions and update position on slow payers. Generate credit rating reports for subs. Help tackle slow payers.
- Bookkeeping. Maintaining two Holding company cash books/SAGE accounts, preparing management accounts, submitting VAT returns. Same plus additional work e.g. stock for new subs. Internal audit within subs - checking postings, VAT treatment, making corrections.
- Management accounts. Accompanying the GFC on visits to subs and supporting the subs with journals, accruals, prepayments. Investigating ad-hoc issues to assist GFC (e.g. effect of sales mix on margins for the month, budget variances). Preparing monthly reportingpacks for the GFC. Producing monthly Group summary of results and draft Group sales reports for the GFC. Stocktaking attendance. Assisting GFC and subs in preparing budgets.
- Internal audit. Ensuring compliance at subs, e.g. periodic checking of payroll records, VAT returns, financial control processes.
- Statutory accounts and audit. Preparing the annual audit files (this is done mostly throughout the year whilst preparing management accounting info) and assisting with fieldwork queries from external auditors.
- Payroll. Assisting the GFC with payroll projects, and running a payroll, e.g. Samco Silicone Products. The GMA needs to have day-to-day experience of running a payroll, to be able to step in at a sub as needed.
- Future change. Assisting GFC with future change projects. E.g. new accounting/ERP systems, assisting with acquisitions, moving purchase ledgers off cheques onto online banking, new regulations etc and new controls.
- Management accounting experience in SME environment, ideally with manufacturing exposure.
- Payroll experience, preferably periods running an hourly paid payroll.
- Driving license.

Other details
- Normal hours 37.5 hours per week (08:00 - 16:30 Mon-Thu with a 30 min lunch break, 08:00 - 13:30 Fri), but expected to work additional hours as required from time to time (e.g. on site visits).
- 33 days paid holiday per annum, inclusive of Statutory Bank Holidays
