**Job summary**:
Are you an experienced midwife with strong clinical and leadership skills? Are you passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care?

We are seeking a Midwifery Clinical Leader / Labour Ward Coordinator to join our maternity team. In this role, you will work closely with Clinical Midwifery Matrons, Band 7 midwives, and the obstetric and neonatal teams to ensure the Maternity Unit is safe, effective, and well-led.

What you'll do:

- Provide day-to-day operational management of inpatient maternity services, ensuring high standards of care and patient safety.
- Lead by example, maintaining visibility and accessibility to staff, women, and families.
- Support a team culture where women are central to all decision-making, and the delivery of safe, compassionate care is a shared priority.
- Monitor and maintain clinical standards, working with the Inpatient Matron to review and improve the overall patient experience.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- Always demonstrate excellent communication skills, when dealing with staff & colleagues, users of the service and outside agencies.
- Ability to provide support and initial post incident support to staff and colleagues, utilising the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework PSIRF.
- Remain up to date and skilled in the management of acute obstetric emergencies, facilitating ad hoc skill drills with the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- To work as part of the band 7 coordinator team in maintaining a safe and efficient clinical area and work with the multidisciplinary team in planning and implementing complex care plans.
- Work closely with their line manager and be responsible for delegated managerial roles, including, deputising for the ward leads/ Matrons in meetings or for periods of leave or absence as agreed by the individual and senior management team.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
Training in PSIRF and human factors

Evidence of ongoing continued professional development

Mentorship qualification / ENB 997 (or equivalent).

**Desirable**:
Neonatal Life Support

Evidence of Leadership course/management training

**Experience**:
**Essential**:
Proven experience in a band 6 role in a similar setting

Participation in formal, multi disciplinary meetings

Experience of working in partnership with healthcare organisations
