Toddler Room Leader

Reports to: Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager
Job Purpose: To lead the toddler room in providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children in the setting. You will ensure that the children’s individual needs are met, that the room operates efficiently, and that nursery policies are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Room Leadership: - Manage and oversee the day-to-day running of the toddler room. - Ensure a safe, stimulating, and educational environment for children aged 2-3 years. - Lead the team of nursery assistants, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.
2. Childcare: - Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities to support the development of toddlers in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. - Monitor children’s progress and development, maintaining detailed observations and assessments. - Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and secure.
3. Communication: - Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on their child’s development. - Liaise with other nursery staff to ensure smooth transitions between rooms and coordinated care. - Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
4. Compliance: - Ensure that nursery policies and procedures are followed, including safeguarding and child protection protocols. - Keep up with regulatory changes and ensure that the toddler room meets OFSTED and EYFS standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential: - A recognized qualification in childcare (e.g., Level 3 Diploma or higher - Proven experience working with children aged 1-3 years, preferably in a leadership role.
Knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development. - Up-to-date first aid and safeguarding training.
- Desirable: - Experience in managing a team within a nursery or early years setting.
Skills and Attributes: - Strong leadership and organizational skills. - Ability to work as part of a team and to lead by example. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Empathy, patience, and a passion for early childhood education. - A proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
Hours: Full-time, typically 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Additional Information: - This role requires a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. - You will be expected to attend ongoing training and professional development.
